Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, born on September 25, 1955, in Lippstadt, West Germany, is one of the greatest German footballers of all time. Known for his explosive pace, clinical finishing, and leadership, Rummenigge was a key figure in Bayern Munich’s dominance in the late 1970s and early 1980s. A two-time Ballon d’Or winner, he also led West Germany to international success.


Early Life and Career

Rummenigge began his professional career with Bayern Munich in 1974. Initially a winger, he later became a lethal forward, forming a deadly attacking partnership with Gerd Müller. After Müller’s departure, he became Bayern’s main goal-scoring threat.

During his time at Bayern Munich, Rummenigge won:

Rummenigge played 95 matches for West Germany, scoring 45 goals and leading the team in major tournaments.

Later Career and Retirement

In 1984, Rummenigge moved to Inter Milan, where he played for three seasons but struggled with injuries. He finished his career with Servette (Switzerland) in 1989, where he won the Swiss League Golden Boot in his final season.

After retiring, he became a key figure in Bayern Munich’s management, helping the club become a global football powerhouse.
